Pranab Mukherjee, H Vasanthakumar and Twitter homage

India’s unfortunate loss of its Former President, Shri. Pranab Mukherjee and the sitting Member of Parliament H.Vasanthakumar (who was also the Founder of Vasanth and Co) has brought a close to two important chapters in Indian Politics. Life is short and both of them were very accomplished. My deepest condolences on our loss as a nation and there are a lot of life lessons one could learn from both. 

If you had followed the twitter handles of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shri Rahul Gandhi to read their messages on Shri. Pranab Mukherjee and Shri. H. Vasanthakumar, who were both congressmen, there are some lessons you can learn.

H. Vasanthakumar

The story of H. Vasanthakumar is very inspirational. He had very humble beginnings from a village in the Southern tip of Tamil Nadu to founding Vasanth & Co which has over 80 retail locations. He went on to serve as a Member of the Legislative Assembly and also Member of Parliament. He spent his earned money towards the betterment of people and was widely respected. 

If you follow the tweet of Shri. Narendra Modi, he makes it personal and talks about his interactions with Shri. Vasanthakumar. Also, look at the picture. He makes it personal again posting a picture they took together. 

In comparison, look at the tweet from Shri. Rahul Gandhi. It looks very ordinary. They would probably have a lot more images of both of them together compared to the number of pictures Shri. Narendra Modi would probably have. It was very disappointing to see this tweet and I should say it is lethargic work. 

Pranab Mukherjee

Shri. Pranab Mukherjee was a Congress Veteran who went on to become the President of India. Let’s compare the tweets again.

Shri. Narendra Modi makes it personal with pictures they have taken together and also pays tributes based on personal interaction. 

Compare them with the tweet from Shri. Rahul Gandhi (Below).

Both Shri. Narendra Modi and Shri Rahul Gandhi are tall leaders in India. It is obvious that both of them are not personally tweeting every day and each of them has a team to manage their social handles. I do not have any political leanings, however, you can see the stark difference between the handling of twitter handles of these two tall leaders in India. 

There are lessons one can learn from Shri. Narendra Modi on how to tweet, how to make it personal, and also from Shri. Rahul Gandhi’s team on how not to tweet, and how not to make it look ordinary. There is more you can analyze by looking at both the handles. However, let’s leave it there. I hope this feedback will help Shri. Rahul Gandhi’s team. There are good lessons they could learn from Shri. Narendra Modi. We need a stronger opposition for a progressive India.
